One of the coolest things you notice as you enter Berthoud are the creations in the yard and porch windows of Charlotte & Ben Zink. Children, goddesses, and is that Santa? bedecked in stars and swirls all cut from metal and finished in a variety of patinas.
And they actually are the creations of Charlotte & Ben, who work as a team to produce these whimsical, attractive pieces.
But just creating great art does not alone qualify one (or two, in this case) for Wildfire’s Artists of the Year. The other requirement is building community through what they do. And in that regard Zink Metal Art steps up for Berthoud time and time again. I think I first met Charlotte displaying her portfolio at Berthoud’s inaugural Farmers’ Market, participating and bringing what she had to the table. They donate pieces to many good causes, including Wildfire’s Annual Art Auction each fall and don’t forget our handsome sign out front of 425 Massachusetts Ave. Ben even created a special Cruiser Art Bike for Wildfire to auction off in celebration of our Cruiser Classic race. Their commitment and graciousness benefit us all.
For all of these reasons and many more, for the beauty and good will they bring to our community, Wildfire honors Charlotte and Ben Zink as our Artists of the Year for 2006.

About Zink Metal Art
All the pieces in our unique collection of metal artwork are joyfully created together by husband and wife team Ben and Charlotte Zink.
Designs are drawn free hand directly onto the sheet of metal by Charlotte with soapstone or water crayons. Ben hand cuts each one with a plasma cutter.
Together we enjoy discovering recycled objects at the salvage yards, working on sculpture design and creating our different finishes.
Our pieces are available in gray mill scale, natural rust, clear coated rust, ground steel, oil rubbed steel, brushed aluminum, powder coated enamel and hand applied acrylics.
